It's Time To 'Fear The Walking Dead' In This New Behind The Scenes Video

Californiapocalypse Now.

Do zombies enjoy beach weather? We're about to find out in "Fear the Walking Dead," the new AMC series premiering soon, based in the same universe as "The Walking Dead."

The new show plans on leaving Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and the rest of the Alexandria community behind, with all eyes on the west coast, as "Fear" explores the ramifications of the walker apocalypse in beautiful, sunny Los Angeles. In a new behind-the-scenes video announcing the start of production, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd promises that the new L.A. setting gives a "completely different vibe and feel" to "The Walking Dead," even if there are aspects of the series that will feel very familiar for fans of the flagship show.

"The audience coming to the show expects a certain thing from 'The Walking Dead,'" says executive producer Dave Erickson, who serves as the spinoff's new show runner. "We want to give you that sense, and then pull the rug out from under you."

There's no official release date just yet, but many fans expect to see "Fear the Walking Dead" later this summer — perhaps as early as next month.
