Breathe Easier, Planet Earth: Jeff Daniels Confirms 'Dumb And Dumber To'

While promoting his super pretentious HBO series "The Newsroom" on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," Jeff Daniels, who at this point should be deemed a national treasure, told Fallon that he would indeed be back for a sequel to "Dumb and Dumber" (which by all accounts is being called "Dumb and Dumber To"). While Fallon essentially levitated out of his chair when Daniels confirmed the sequel's existence, he did temper that enthusiasm by saying, "I'll believe it when I'm staring Jim Carrey in the face." Awwww. So bromantic!

Daniels said that the movie starts shooting in September and will be out next year, in time for the original film's 20th anniversary, which is both incredibly cool and also made us feel about a million years old. "We're middle aged, we're not pretending we're not, and we're still that stupid," Daniels confirmed. (This elicited a response that looked like someone set off a firecracker inside Fallon.)

While returning to the well so far after the original always seems like a dicey proposition, "Dumb and Dumber To," which Daniels confirmed will be once again directed by the Farrelly brothers, could be just the right mixture of sweetened nostalgia and a whole lot of fart jokes. Ah, it'll be good to have them back.

It's also probably a good time to bring up the fact that "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd" was something that actually existed in real life. Never forget.
