Even Andy Samberg Couldn't Believe 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Won Two Globes

ine.jhtml">"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" may be the new show on the block, but it's already getting a lot of love. Fox's rookie cop comedy managed to snag both awards it was nominated for at Sunday night's (January 12) Golden Globes.
The show and its lead, Andy Samberg, won for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical, respectively.
"Oh no! I didn't prepare anything! It wasn't going to happen," Samberg told the room when he took the stage to accept his acting prize. "You guys. The Globes, right? Who Knew?
"I guess I'll just thank everyone. Thanks to Fox and [president] Kevin Reilly and Universal. And, you know, the guys that came up with the show, Mike [Schur] and Dan [Goor]. The cast is awesome. The crew, really good, can't forget them. The writers kick A. Everyone on my team," he said, half-parodying award show speeches. "And, no, I really do love them and respect them. And [Akiva Schaffer] and [Jorma Taccone from the
ack-album.jhtml">Lonely Island] who I have done everything in my career with. And, of course my beautiful and incredible wife [musician] Joanna [Newsom], who I love so much."

Later Goor took the stage to accept the show's hardware. And, like Samberg, he was floored by the win. "I'm a terrible actor, so you can be assured I'm very surprised in real life," he said. "I want to thank Universal Television and Fox, especially Kevin Reilly who controls our fate and who is very, very handsome and smart," he joked, adding that he opted to work in Hollywood after going to medical school and joking, "This is way better than saving a human life."
The show beat out more seasoned series like "The Big Bang Theory," "Girls," "Modern Family" and "Parks & Recreation" for Best Television Series- Comedy or Musical. Meanwhile Samberg took home his gold for Best Performance By An Actor In A Television Series- Comedy or Musical, winning over Jason Bateman ("Arrested Development"), Don Cheadle ("House of
Lies") Michael J. Fox ("The Michael J. Fox Show") and Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory").

The workplace comedy revolves around the kooky detectives of NYC's 99th precinct, led by Samberg's very own Jake Peralta. Their antics are called into question when they get a new captain, played by Andre Braugher, who intends on whipping them into shape, much to Peralta's dismay.
