Hair colorist Ursula Goff is basically a magician. She transforms hair into rainbows that even Kesha and Katy Perry, the unofficial queens of technicolor hair, would envy.

Earlier this month, Goff posted two side-by-side selfies on Facebook and wrote about how social media only displays the the good, not the real. The pic quickly went viral, amassing nearly 30,000 likes and over 15,000 shares.

"I didn't edit either one of these photos, but they were taken just a few days apart," Goff wrote. "I think it's important to note that lighting, angles, facial expression, and make-up make a huge difference in photography and presentation (especially in my case!). Social media can make it easy to feel like everyone else is awesome and perfect all the time, but that's really never true."

"We should keep in mind that behind every pretty face or perfect lifestyle is a regular person," she continued, "and that there's really no point in comparing amongst ourselves because this is all cultivated ... [T]he best way to be happy with yourself is to cultivate YOURSELF, vs. cultivating an IMAGE, or comparing yourself to everyone else." ?

Her powerful words come one month after Essena O'Neill, an Instagram star with over 600,000 followers, quit social media because of her "contrived" image. O'Neill edited her Insta captions to expose what really went down behind-the-scenes of each glam pic -- like how many shots it took to pull off that unnatural angle and how much she was paid to wear that bikini on camera.

Like it or not, social media is part of today's world, and it's refreshing when people like Goff take a moment to step back, reflect and realize there's so much more to the story than a couple of filtered photos.
