Like their Disney counterparts, several former Nickelodeon stars have added "director" to their résumés over the years. Many of them, like Nathan Kress and Jonathan Goldstein, got their starts on one Dan Schneider show before ending up a director on another, like when Goldstein jumped from Drake & Josh to iCarly.
A few of these projects found actors reuniting — iCarly's Seddie makes a return in a new short — while others connected Nick stars who hadn't actually worked together before. So get comfy on the orange SNICK couch and check out which of your favorites have called "action." [Note: Nickelodeon and MTV News are both owned by Viacom.]
The iCarly star, who ironically played Freddie the director on the show, went on to direct several episodes of Henry Danger and Game Shakers. Initially, Kress told MTV News, he wasn't interested in directing: Seeing firsthand from the show's real directors "how much work it was and how stressed they always were and how the expectations that were laid on them and how they were just expected to deliver" turned him off from the idea. But he was given encouragement by series creator Dan Schneider, and he eventually warmed up to the idea. The rest is history.
Along with Colton Tran, Sam from iCarly directed the short "8 Bodies," which actually stars Nathan Kress.
This year has been a big directing one for the Victorious star. In April, Jogia directed the four-part series he also starred in and wrote, Last Teenagers of the Apocalypse. More recently, he wrote and directed the crime short Of Dogs and Men, which featured his Tut co-star Ben Kingsley.
All That cast member De Sena has a YouTube channel with Chris Smith, and both directed the short The White Room, which has a hilarious twist at the end. More recently, the duo created Trolls These Days.
One-half of The Naked Brothers Band, Wolff directed, wrote, starred in, and executive-produced Boots, a personal short about a former flame. "This was 10th grade for me, when everything felt so urgent, and I was so sensitive," he told MTV News back in 2015.
Big bro Nat was also an executive producer, mainly because he paid for all the food during production. The younger Wolff brother also announced on Instagram earlier this year that The Cat and the Moon will be his first feature to direct, write, and star in, but no more info about the project has emerged since. Wolff actually wrote the script years ago.
The Clarissa Explains It All star has directed several different projects, including the Lifetime movie Santa Con, and various episodes of Melissa & Joey and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
Remember when Peck said he'd direct a music video of Drake Bell's band on an early episode of Drake & Josh? Well, that's exactly what happened. Enjoy the nostalgia above.
