Rosario Dawson Teases 'Daredevil' Season 2, Potential Marvel Crossovers And The Punisher

Could Night Nurse be heading to "Luke Cage" and/or "Jessica Jones"?

Though actress Rosario Dawson was at E3 this week to plug her involvement in "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" (more on that soon!), when MTV News talked to the actress, we had to find out more about her inclusion in Netflix and Marvel's second season of "Daredevil" -- and when she might cross over into other Marvel shows like "Jessica Jones" or "Luke Cage."

Claire was a notable fan favorite in "Daredevil" season one, despite only appearing in a limited number of episodes. When asked why she thought her character resonated so much with viewers, Dawson told MTV News, "She's funny, she's wry, she's strong -- she's built for that world, because she's great under pressure. She's someone -- hero or not -- you'd want to have in a dire situation... I really just liked her arc all the way through.

"I'm looking forward to seeing where that goes, because her eyes have been opened up to this other world -- and she's crossed the line. You know, this is someone who helps people, and she's been violent now but seeing the need for it. I think there's a lot that she's having to grapple with, and I think that's what's exciting about using this show to explore street-level characters: it makes it that much more closer to us."

Dawson also noted how her version of Claire is vastly different from the one in the comics, which could lead to some interesting developments in other Marvel TV series.

"Even just having Night Nurse and Claire Temple come together was already changing the Marvel Universe," Dawson continued. "So it just feels like, A) I finally get to join Marvel. I get to do it in a way that's completely altering the universe, which is awesome. And then, B) I have no idea where it's going to go, because here I was having a fling with Matt Murdock, and now Luke Cage is coming up, and Jessica Jones."

Specifically, Dawson said she's excited to see Jon Bernthal as Punisher in Season 2, which was announced last week. "That's going to raise the stakes so much more, because Matt Murdock almost behaves like the Punisher in the first season," she said. "[Matt] crosses the line quite often, so it's going to be really interesting to see how they differentiate them and where that goes."

However, despite bringing in more characters, Dawson hopes the show will continue to strike a good balance between street-level grittiness and Marvel's unique brand of fantasy.

"It's very realistic-feeling," she said of the first season. "You know, they have that whole 'Old Boy' kind of fighting style, but it's great. It's really fun to see people miss punches and get tired. They're people. So I'm very curious to see how that develops, as we're maybe starting to bring in some of the more fantastical heroes that we keep alluding to."

And as for that potential crossover? Dawson doesn't specifically know what's coming -- or if she'll officially be the Nick Fury of Marvel TV -- but it certainly seems like the possibility is on the table.

"I have no idea how they're wanting me to come back or in which way, shape or form," Dawson said, "but it's nice to know that I've got a character who does kind of string everyone together and bring all those worlds together."

"Daredevil" returns to Netflix in 2016.
