Former A Tribe Called Quest rapper Q-Tip has released

his first solo single, "Vivrant Thing," as an MP3 file, available at

MP3.com. The single, which will be featured on the upcoming compilation

CD Violator: The Album, was released to radio Thursday (May 20).

Violator: The Album will be released June 27 and features guest

contributions by LL Cool J and Busta Rhymes. The album is a

compilation of new material from artists associated with the New York hip-hop

company Violator, which manages artists and also functions as a label with

a distribution deal through Def Jam Recordings.
