Q-Tip, L.L. Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott Down For "Violator" Compilation

Some of the first solo work from Q-Tip, the former frontman for A Tribe Called Quest, is slated to appear on a new compilation record, "Violator: The Album," due in stores in July.

Chris Lighty and Mona Scott, the co-owners of Violator Management/Violator Records, have assembled some of the artists from their roster for the album, with Q-Tip's cut, "Vivrant Thing," slated to be the first single from the record.

Others appearing on the disc include Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Foxy Brown and L.L. Cool J, who contributes a new track entitled "Know Why?!?" Closing out the CD is an all-star affair on "The Violators," which features vocals from Mobb Deep, Cam'ron, Q-Tip, Noreaga, Cormega, and newcomers Mysonne, Sonya Blade, the Franchise, and Young Guns.

Violator: The Album" is set for release on July 27.
