The new trailer for "Guardians of the Galaxy," Marvel's upcoming space epic starring Chris Pratt, has just hit online... And it's amazing. So amazing, in fact, that we had to break down all the surprising, awesome moments into easy to study GIFs.

Here's everything we noticed... And some things you might have missed:

That's Pratt as Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord using his gun to electrically zap a bad guy (or maybe a good guy, we're not quite sure). In the comics, Quill totes an elemental gun that lets him use the "four elements." It's entirely possible that this lightning might be some variation on his four-color origins. Will it shoot fire and water, too?

Quill is escaping from Korath the Pursuer, played by Djimon Honsou. Korath is a henchman working for Ronan The Accuser (Lee Pace), who in turn is either working with or for Marvel Universe Big Bad Thanos (who has been cast, but we don't know who is playing him yet).

Here, Quill is casually tossing the Orb. This is the MacGuffin at the heart of the movie, an ancient object of immense power that everyone covets. It's possible this is one of the Infinity Stones, as teased at the end of "Thor: The Dark World" - but so far, all we know is that it has the power to destroy the galaxy.

So stop tossing it in the air, is what we're saying.

That's Ronan, carrying his Universal Weapon. It's basically a giant hammer that shoots stuff. In the comic books he's Kree, a race of aliens that have been teased on TV in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." But reportedly that doesn't play into his origin here, other than the blue skin.

Ronan is working with Nebula (Karen Gillan), who you can see holding his hammer on the right. As of now we don't know who these monks are, or what role they play. There have been rumors that Ronan is leading an army devoted to worshiping death -- which would make sense, as in the books Thanos is literally in love with the personification of death -- so it's possible these monks play into that religion.

Hey look, it's Glenn Close as Nova Prime Rael, leader of the Nova Corps. They're basically space cops, and kind of hate the Guardians.

This is Knowhere, the rotting head of a massive being known as a Celestial that also houses an alien bazaar and space station. In the books it's run by a Russian Cosmonaut dog named Cosmo, who can talk. Fingers crossed he shows up in the movie.

Looks like Ronan's hammer isn't just good for hammering. Oh, if I had a hammer, I'd blast in the moooooornin'.

During a Facebook chat before the launch of the trailer, director James Gunn teased that the most beautiful scene in the movie involved Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel). Looks like this might be that scene, where it seems Groot is either communing with, or letting off bio-luminescent spores.

In case you haven't gotten the picture that the biggest, toughest member of the Guardians is also a huge softie, here's Groot giving a girl a flower. Which now that we think of it is kind of like handing someone a piece of your skin, so gross.

When we talked to Karen Gillan, she teased the, "big, girlie fight" between her character and Gamora (Zoe Saldana). The characters have a history, used to be allies, but now are about to go head to head.

This is our favorite GIF of all time. Benicio del Toro plays The Collector, who was first glimpsed post-credits in "Thor: The Dark World." He's gunning for the Infinity Stones, though it's unclear who's side he's on. All we know is, he looks adorable and worried.

Quill is a refugee from Earth, left only with a few relics from the '80s including his faithful Walkman and mixtape. Here, Quill and Gamora almost get intimate listening to some tunes.

Speaking of which, here's Quill's on-board radio/tape player, complete with Troll doll and ALF stickers for ultimate '80s authenticity.

Groot may be a big softie, but he's a big softie. Here he goes into battle mode.

The moment we've been waiting for since Vin Diesel was cast. According to the Dies, he had to say the character's signature line, "maybe a thousand times? I don't know. It felt like a thousand." This is one of those times, but each time the sentient tree-man uses the phrase to mean something different.

We're really hoping that raccoon crotch doesn't become a thing, but if it does, here's your GIF. Definitely the most disturbing moment in the trailer, as Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) adjusts himself.

John C. Reilly is also a member of the Nova Corps, working for Nova Prime. He may not think that sending the Guardians off to save the universe is a good idea, but we sure do.

Speaking of which: hero shot. And last but not least:

Yeah, you've got to end with a shot of a screaming raccoon flying a spaceship into battle. That almost makes the crotch adjustment worthwhile. Almost.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" blasts into theaters on August 1.
