Ryan Reynolds Rekindled All Of Our 'Deadpool' Dreams With One Tweet

This time the film won't be forgotten.

Ryan Reynolds is finalizing a deal with FOX for a feature on "Deadpool," Deadline reports. The long awaited picture breathed new life earlier this year, with the attachment of director Tim Miller and a bonafide release date in February 2016.

The "Deadpool" film adaptation has been in rumored development since back in 2009 when Reynolds first brought the character to life as Wade Wilson in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Fans immediately latched onto the actor in a bid for the anti-hero's own standalone flick.

"He's going to be the Merc with the Mouth, [we're going to give] all those answers that everyone wants," Reynolds told us in a 2009 interview, shortly after "Deadpool" was initially announced. "He's going to have the scarred-up face, he's going to be in the suit — and, it's going to be incredible."

Unfortunately, after less-than-stellar success with Reynolds as the star of "Green Lantern," the project was shelved for years. It wasn't until archival test footage of Reynolds in the signature suit leaked online to a rave fan response that the picture bloomed again.

"Deadpool" finally arrives on February 12, 2016.
