'Stranger Things'’s Steve And Jean-Ralphio Do Some Father-Son Bonding On 'The Late Late Show'

Joe Keery and Ben Schwartz finally set the record straight on Jean-Ralphio’s parentage

Earlier this week, we received the first photographic evidence of the meeting between Jean-Ralphio Saperstein of Parks and Recreation and Steve Harrington from Stranger Things — two characters shipped as father and son by fans.

On Thursday night's episode of The Late Late Show (September 22), James Corden tapped Entertainment Tonight's Nischelle Turner for a conversation with Ben Schwartz (who plays Jean-Ralphio) and Joe Keery (who plays Steve) to address theories about Jean-Ralphio's parentage.

Schwartz and Keery are dubious about the connection — that is, until they realize they're both wearing exactly the same clothes (which are apparently handmade), have the same mannerisms (including a Bill Clinton–inspired thumb gesture), and have a love for dancing (as exercise). Once they're convinced of the connection, they decide to catch up on lost time, with a delightful montage of Keery and Schwartz doing father-son activities, like shaving, trying whiskey for the first time, and learning to ride a bike.

As we know from Parks and Recreation, Jean-Ralphio has a twin sister (Mona-Lisa Saperstein, played by Jenny Slate), and their father (played by Henry Winkler) is a successful OB-GYN in Pawnee, which presents many additional questions. Could we possibly get an entire family reunion? Or perhaps an entire show built around the Saperstein family's newfound popularity? Does Steve from Stranger Things grow up to be The Fonz? There's more to this story, and we need to find out.
