Tyga Claims Compton Was Home His 'Whole Life'

'I never grew up in the Valley,' Tyga tells Power 106, saying what he says on MTV's 'Bustas' game show was scripted.

Tyga may represent Rack City in his music, but the Young Money hit-maker insists that his true home is Compton, California.

Back in December, T-Raww came under some scrutiny after unreleased footage of a shelved MTV game-show called "Bustas" hit the Internet. In it, the California rapper came up in the plush Valley and not the rough and tumble streets of Compton as many of his fans believed. "Grew up not too tough, parents had a Range Rover," Tyga said in the unearthed footage. "Doin' it big, not too much hard, but I'm still street."

Now the rapper is saying it was all scripted. "It wasn't called 'Bustas' at the time, it was a pilot. It was supposed to be who was the next rapper to get signed at the time," Tyga said of the show during an interview with Power 106's Big Boy's Neighborhood, which hit the Web today. "The intro beginning was scripted. I never grew up in the Valley. I lived in Compton/Gardena my whole life."

Tyga says that he was only 15 years old when he taped the pilot, and his eagerness to make it as an MC overrode his need for street credibility, so he just went with the flow. "I'm young, I'm ambitious. I don't care. I'm getting a check for this, I'm about to be on T.V.," he explained of his teenaged mindset. "At this point in my career, I'm at a point where I worked so hard and for people to try and throw negative stuff, it's just retarded."

The new father also touched on life as a dad thus far, calling it "special" and talked about he and Chris Brown's upcoming Fan of a Fan II mixtape. "I'm dropping my album in March and I think he's working on something new so, whenever we stop driving Lambos and posting pictures on Instagram, maybe we can finish it," he said.
