Salt-n-Pepa-n-Sheryl Crow Team Up For Track

September 11 [10:00 EDT] -- If Sheryl Crow is missing her friends from the Tuesday Night Music Club, she can take solace in her new friends, Salt-n-Pepa.

Crow sings backup vocals on the rappers' track "Imagine," which will be on their long delayed new album "Are You Ready," their first since 1993's "Very Necessary.

Crow says she first hooked up with Salt-n-Pepa back in 1994, when she had a hit with "All I Wanna Do" and the rappers' were hot with "Shoop" and "Whatta Man.

We would wind up on the same TV shows a lot, and we wound up being very close friends," Crow told MTV News. "They would do dance routines to 'All I Wanna Do,' and we were always partying to their music, and then they called me and asked me to play on their record. I am so anxious for it to come out, because the stuff I heard them doing is so amazing, and they produced it themselves. It's kind of a return to old R&B with a really fresh twist on it.

Salt-n-Pepa finally finished that

new album two months ago, and it should be out in late October. That date is not confirmed due to the complex paperwork involved with Salt-n-Pepa's deal with their new label, Red Ant Records.

A video for the album's first single, the title track, will premiere on MTV next Thursday.
