Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors isn't just the title of Big Boi's upcoming LP, it's a reflection of the scrutiny that the veteran MC faces on the daily, especially when it comes to his relationship with his recluse Outkast partner André 3000. In fact, while on a promo run in New York for the album, Big made some pretty big headlines and on Wednesday (November 14) when the ATLien hit "RapFix Live" to clear the air.
Big was bothered by a Village Voice interview which published on Wednesday. The headline read: Big Boi of Outkast Talks His New Album and Why Andre 3000 Isn't on It: 'He Said He Had Some Gillette Sh--.' "
Of course the reference was to the razor commercial André Benjamin did earlier this year. "I was being sarcastic and they took it and ran with it," Sir Lucious Left Foot told MTV News writer Rob Markman, who was filling in for "RapFix" host Sway Calloway. "It was a vicious misunderstanding, how my man ain't gonna be on my album to do a shaving commercial? Get the f--- outta here."
Yes, it is true that Dre isn't on the LP, which will hit shelves on December 11. Instead Big has linked with spitters like T.I., Ludacris and Kid Cudi and former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland. Fans can rest assured however; there is no Outkast beef, says BB. "Yeah, for sure, we're good. That's my brother, man. Y'all don't see us. We do us," he said. "So people want an Outkast album so bad they'll stir up somethin' but you can't break that bond."
Big understands the legacy that Outkast has left over the course of their illustrious 18-year, five-album and one-soundtrack career, but right now, he is focused on the task at hand: delivering Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors to the world.
As far as the 'Kast questions go, he's tired of answering them, so Big Boi pledged that after Wednesday's "RapFix Live" he will no longer talk about Andre in interviews -- that is until they decide to come together for that long awaited group LP. "I ain't gonna answer no more Outkast questions... after today, that's it. This the last one," he barked. "Until you see me and Dre sit side by side... when you see both of us together then you'll know it's coming."
