Lady Gaga Just Announced LG5’s Title And Release Date

Say hello to 'Joanne'

Lady Gaga’s next album is coming very, very soon — and after months of speculation, we finally know what it’s called, too.

On Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show today (September 15), Gaga phoned in to announce the title and release date of LG5. It’s called Joanne, and it’s coming out October 21.

Joanne was the name of Gaga’s paternal aunt, who died of lupus when she was 19. It’s also her middle name. “I was named after her,” she told Lowe.

“The day that the album comes out will be such a day of healing for me and my family,” Gaga said. “I feel like [Joanne’s] getting to live the rest of the life that she never got to."

Calling from the studio, Gaga also confirmed that the album would be done “in the next 48 hours." A few hours later, she shared the album cover on Twitter.

She offered some details on a few album tracks, too. There’s a song called “Joanne,” which she called “the real, true heart and soul of the record.” Josh Homme plays guitars on a track called “John Wayne,” and Father John Misty appears on another called “Sinner’s Prayer."

Oh, and before Joanne arrives next month, we’ll get a video for its lead single “Perfect Illusion” directed by Ruth Hogben — just in case you weren't already excited enough.
