Whoa: Original 'Bad News Bears' Trailer Had Not-So-Cute Racial Slurs

The Motion Picture Association of America must've been fast asleep back in 1976, when they handed "The Bad News Bears" a family-friendly PG rating. Okay, okay, the PG-13 rating wasn't around until 1984, but still. That movie is offensive with a capital O.

Just check out the blimey trailer for the thing, and you'll see what we mean.

At the 1:08 mark, Coach Buttermaker (Walter Matthau) ushers in little Amanda Whurlitzer (Tatum O'Neal) to help the terrible little league team suck slightly less, but Timmy Lupus (Quinn Smith) - who seems to be suffering some sort of Napoleon complex all film, frankly - doesn't like that idea; no sir. Seriously. That language. Tsk to the tsk.

For what it's worth, the 2005 remake featuring Billy Bob Thorton, offensive in its own right, was "Rated PG-13 for rude behavior, language throughout, some sexuality and thematic elements."
