Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' Video: Reviving A Classic Board Game

The video for Katy Perry's "California Gurls" certainly delivered on the promise of the preview that premiered before last weekend's MTV Movie Awards. The clip stars Perry, Snoop Dogg, a series of candy-flavored sidekicks and an army of animated Gummi Bears in an epic, life-sized game of "Candy Land" (renamed "Candyfornia" for the purposes of this clip). The video delivers a number of eye-popping moments, including Perry attacking Snoop with her breast-mounted whipped cream cannons and a very nude Perry lounging on a cloud.

But perhaps the highlight of the clip is that it revives "Candy Land," a classic board game that challenges kids to race their way through a sugary alternate universe. Though it's quite a bit more suggestive than a game for kids, "California Gurls" is a sort of faithful adaptation and brings up a new avenue that Perry could explore: The music video based on a board game.

In case Perry is looking for more inspiration for the remaining videos from her upcoming album Teenage Dream, here are some games she could focus on.

"Operation"

The Pitch: Perry stars as a crazed surgeon who must remove the funny bones of her patients without touching the sides, lest their noses light up a bright red.

Key Cameo: Fiancé Russell Brand as the guy who needs his Adam's apple taken out.

"Hungry Hungry Hippos"

The Pitch: Perry dons a hippopotamus outfit, escapes from the zoo and gobbles up marbles. Or perhaps delicious Sno Balls.

Key Cameo: John C. Reilly as the wacky zookeeper who has to track Perry down.

"Clue"

The Pitch: Perry stars as Miss Scarlett and must try to solve the mystery of Mr. Boddy's murder. Did Mr. Green do it with the candlestick in the conservatory? Only Perry can figure it out.

Key Cameo: Both of the dudes from 3OH!3 as Colonel Mustard.

"Battleship"

The Pitch: It's essentially the Fugees' "Ready or Not" video, except with Katy Perry instead of Lauryn Hill.

Key Cameo: Both Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin reprising their roles from "The Hunt for Red October."

"Monopoly"

The Pitch: Perry stars as the owner of Park Place who is looking to move into the railroad business. Along the way, she falls for a comely hotel developer and wins second place in a beauty contest.

Key Cameo: Jay-Z as Uncle Moneybags.

"Simon"

The Pitch: Perry plays the color red. Can she best her arch rivals yellow and blue?

Key Cameo: Taylor Swift as the color green.
