Reunited Go-Go's Plan Summer Tour With B-52's

All-female pop-rock band also planning album, due early next year.

The Go-Go's, the '80s pop group that recently revealed plans to record its first studio album in more than 16 years, announced a 21-city tour of North America on Wednesday (May 17).

Quirky pop band the B-52's will accompany the all-female quintet as they kick off the trek July 7 in Detroit and circle the Midwest before hitting the East and West coasts. The Psychedelic Furs will open throughout the tour, which concludes Aug. 6 in San Diego.

Last week guitarist Jane Weidlin revealed plans to record an album, to be titled Vision of Nowness, for release early next year. A collection of their music will be issued Tuesday on VH1 Behind the Music: Go-Go's Collection, to accompany the June 4 airing of a VH1 documentary on the group. (Sonicnet.com's parent company, Viacom, also owns VH1).

Led by singer Belinda Carlisle, the Go-Go's emerged in the early '80s with hits such as "We Got the Beat" (RealAudio excerpt) and "Our Lips Are Sealed." The group split up the year after the release of Talk Show (1984), their third album.
