Randy Travis Forging Ahead In Movies, Music
Smooth country crooner Randy Travis is further expanding into acting as he looks ahead to a U.S. tour.
Travis appears alongside Dylan McDermott ("The Practice"), James Van Der Beek ("Dawson's Creek") and Rachael Leigh Cook ("She's All That") in the western "Texas Rangers," to be released this summer. He's also been cast in "The White River Kid" with Antonio Banderas, "The Trial of Old Drum" and the independent film "John John in the Sky."
On May 21, he'll lend his voice to the animated series "King of the Hill" along with fellow country artists Vince Gill, Wynonna Judd, Charlie Daniels, Brooks & Dunn and Martina McBride. The show has strong country ties, with such past guest stars as singer/actor Clint Black and a soundtrack featuring Faith Hill, the Mavericks, Willie Nelson, Travis Tritt, Trace Adkins, Deana Carter and Old 97's.
On the music front, Travis' summer tour begins June 21 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and runs through September 23 in Centreville, Mich.
