Gloria Estefan To Launch 'Caribbean Soul' In Bahamas

Marc Anthony, Celia Cruz, Jose Feliciano slated for guest appearances in TV special.

Latin-pop and dance singer Gloria Estefan will tape a TV special at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas, to celebrate the Tuesday release of her new LP, Alma Caribena ("Caribbean Soul").

"It is an honor to be associated with Gloria Estefan — she is one of the most popular and influential entertainers in the world," Sun International Resorts spokesperson Jerry Inzerillo said in a press release. Inzerillo didn't explain why an album titled Alma Caribena is being launched in the Bahamas, which is located east of Florida in the Atlantic Ocean.

"Gloria Estefan, Caribbean Soul: The Atlantis Concert," which airs May 12 on CBS-TV, is the superstar's first broadcast-TV special. She previously was the subject of "Gloria Estefan: Live in Miami on HBO," which also aired on the Telemundo network. Marty Culner "Garth Live From Central Park") will direct the one-hour program, set to feature salsa sensation Marc Anthony.

Telemundo viewers will be treated additionally to guest appearances by salsa queen Celia Cruz and Jose Feliciano.
