Drum & bass producers Photek and Peshay collaborate on an EP that will be released later this month under the name Special Forces.
A spokesperson at Science, the European Virgin imprint that Photek is signed to, described the album as "dancefloor-orientated drum & bass."
The EP, however, will be released on Photek's own label, Photek Productions.
Photek is Rupert Parkes, who has recorded under the names Code of Practice, Aquarius, Studio Pressure, the Truper and Sentinel. He is known for his intricate rhythm programming as well as his dearth of live or DJ appearances.
After releasing more than 80 tracks on six labels, Parkes signed to Science in 1996 and released his first EP as Photek, The Hidden Camera. His debut full-length LP, Modus Operandi, came out in 1997, followed by a singles and remixes compilation, Form & Function, in 1998.
Peshay (born Paul Pesce), a member of Goldie's Metalheadz stable, released several singles during the mid-'90s on LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records and the seminal Mo' Wax imprint. He released his debut full-length, Miles From Home, last summer on the UK label Island Blue, though the album never was released in the United States.
