Spoon Prepping New Album

Eclectic Austin, Texas, band recently released single on Saddle Creek label.

Eclectic rock combo Spoon are busy working on a new full-length album, although a label and release date for the disc are up in the air, according to the independent Saddle Creek imprint. The group, led by songwriter Britt Daniel, recently released a two-song single on Saddle Creek. "The Agony of Laffitte" and "Laffitte Don't Fail Me Now," both dark, acoustic rock songs, are a response to their experience on major label Elektra for their sophomore album, A Series of Sneaks (1998), according to Saddle Creek. The Austin, Texas, band first garnered attention in 1996 with its debut, Telephono (Matador), a Pixies-influenced disc of big sounds, off-kilter rhythms and awkward vocals.
