Can The Cast Of 'The Martian' Pass A 2nd Grade Science Quiz?

There is not an almond at the center of the Earth, despite what some may tell you.

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

Are you smarter than a second grader?

Think carefully before you answer that question, because chances are, second grade was a long, long time ago.

We challenged the cast of "The Martian" -- Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Sebastian Stan, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, McKenzie Davis, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Donald Glover, Sean Bean, Jeff Daniels and an actual astronaut -- to answer science questions typically taught in a second grade curriculum while we chatted with them at Toronto International Film Festival. Do you know what's at the center of the Earth? Because Jessica Chastain's best guess is "an almond."

That is at the center of a Mounds bar, yes, but not so much our planet.

Check out the video and see if you can best the "Martian" cast in a match of scientific knowledge. Who knows -- you might even learn something along the way!

"The Martian" hits theaters October 2.
