Foo Fighters' Drummer Hospitalized; European Tour Canceled
Foo Fighters have canceled the remaining dates of their European tour, as drummer Taylor Hawkins was admitted to a hospital Monday morning following the band's performance at the V2001 festival in Chelmsford, U.K.
Hawkins "apparently overindulged" during a party following the two-day festival, held August 18 and 19 in Staffordshire and Chelmsford, according to a spokesperson for the band's European label, BMG International.
No further information was available at press time as to exactly how the percussionist overindulged himself, or what hospital he was admitted to. In a statement, the band's European label said Hawkins "is reported to be in stable condition."
Calls to the band's U.S. publicists were not immediately returned.
The dates affected include Braga, Portugal (August 21), London, U.K. (August 27), Edinburgh, U.K. (August 30), and Dublin, Ireland (September 1), a show where the Foos were to open for U2 at Slane Castle.
Other artists performing at the V2001 festival included Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Gray, Lifehouse and Tricky.
