They Might Be Giants accordionist/singer John Linnell will
play his first-ever solo shows in support of his debut disc, State
Songs, due Oct. 26. They include two club shows — one at the
Troubadour in West Hollywood, Calif., on Nov. 22 and one at Slim's in
San Francisco the following night. He also will play a few in-store
appearances, including one at Tower Records in New York on Oct. 26 and
another at the children's book store Storyopolis in Los Angeles on Nov.
20; an Oct. 30 in-store appearance at Newbury in Boston is tentative.
Eclectic rockers They Might Be Giants, which features Linnell and
singer/guitarist John Flansburgh, most recently released an
MP3-only album, Long Tall Weekend.
