Canadian Orchestra Strike Affects James Taylor Shows

One day after agreeing to suspend their week-old strike to perform with

singer/songwriter James Taylor this weekend, the striking members

of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra reversed that decision Thursday

(Sept. 30), according to a spokesperson for the venue, Roy Thomson Hall.

The shows, Taylor's first with the orchestra, were to take place Friday

and Saturday nights (Oct. 1–2). The Toronto Musicians Association

has been on strike since Sept. 25, resulting in the cancellation of six

performances to date, including the Taylor shows.
