Basement Jaxx Spin Through North America On Tour
Critically acclaimed British DJ duo Basement Jaxx will launch their first U.S. tour in September at the Chili Pepper in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
The 14-date tour will take the pair — producer/DJs Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton — across the U.S. and Canada performing shows in support of their recently released full-length debut, Remedy.
The album — a mix of hip-hop, R&B, funk and house-influenced electronic dance music — has been out for two weeks and already has spawned a #1 club single, "Red Alert" (RealAudio excerpt). It has also earned a spot at #45 on Spin magazine's list of the top 90 albums of the decade.
"We were basing our sound on deep house and garage music that was coming from the States. We wanted to re-create what an American club may be like, to re-create the myth of America in our minds," Ratcliffe said. "The music there had a dignity to it that a lot of European music doesn't."
