Derek Trucks Joining Allman Brothers

Guitarist Derek Trucks, 19, is joining the Allman Brothers

Band, according to a statement from the group. Trucks, a nephew of

the band's drummer, Butch Trucks, will replace Jack Pearson,

who joined the group two years ago and is leaving to pursue solo projects,

the statement said. The Allman Brothers Band, acclaimed for their 1971

album, Live at Fillmore East, recently completed an 18-show

residency at Beacon Theater in New York and will launch an extensive

tour this summer. As a solo artist, Derek Trucks has released the albums

Derek Trucks Band (1997) and Out of the Madness (1998).
