Peter Gabriel and R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe will

be in New York Wednesday night (March 24) for the 11th annual Reebok

Human Rights Awards ceremony. The two musicians are on the event's board

of advisers along with former President Jimmy Carter. Four activists

will be honored: a former sex slave fighting to free other young women

in Ghana, a lawyer working against the death penalty in the United

States, an activist combating abuses against ethnic minorities in Burma

and a student leader fighting for democratic reforms in Kenya.
