'The Voice' Pays Tribute To Oklahoma Tornado Victims

Oklahoma natives Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert perform 'Over You' during the live elimination episode.

Tuesday night's "The Voice" live results show left eight high and two dry and out of the competition. Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher were on the edge of their seats, hoping some remnant of their teams would remain.

The night began on a touching note as the series continued to show its support for victims of the Oklahoma tornado with a tribute performance of "Over You" by Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. When news spread Monday of the devastating tornado that ripped through the region, it hit particularly close to Shelton who struggled to put on a brave face during the live competition. The Oklahoma natives sang the intimate song as an expression of solidarity.

But when eliminations began, even Shelton couldn't control his nerves, jokingly admitting to having "ulcers" and "diarrhea" as a result. Usher, on the other hand, was feeling very paternal, hoping his team would "reap the benefits" of his efforts as coach.

When the first five saved artists were revealed, there was no surprise. All the expected front-runners remained including Judith Hill, Danielle Bradbery, Michelle Chamuel and Sasha Allen.

The only real concern was for Team Blake's Holly Tucker, who took a major risk opening Monday's show with a Christian song, "How Great Thou Art." It paid off when she was announced saved, with Carson Daly pointing out the timeliness of the performance in the wake of the tornado.

With only three spots left and five artists remaining, the last names were revealed: Sarah Simmons, Amber Carrington and the Swon Brothers were all safe. Alas, Team Usher's Josiah Hawley and Shakira's Kris Thomas' journey on "The Voice" came to an end.

The final tally leaves Team Adam and Team Blake in tact with all three of their contestants moving forward and newbies Usher and Shakira holding on by a thread with just one each.

"The Voice" returns next Monday as the final eight sing for the crown.
