Eclectic rockers Yo La Tengo will hit the road in late February for a

12-date North American tour, shortly after their new album arrives in

stores.

The new LP, And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out, is due Feb.

22, with its first single, "Saturday," expected to be on the airwaves

next month, a band spokesperson said. The disc is the follow-up to 1997's

I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One, which features the songs

"Little Honda" (RealAudio

excerpt) and "Autumn Sweater" (RealAudio

excerpt).

Yo La Tengo, whose sound ranges from feedback-driven noise rock to

sugar-coated melodic pop, will play a New Year's Eve show at their hometown

haunt, Maxwell's, in Hoboken, N.J. They'll kick off the tour nearly two

months later, with a Feb. 25 date at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.

The band later will move north into Canada before heading westward. The

tour is capped by three California dates, including a final stop at the

El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on March 13.

The husband-and-wife duo of singer/guitarist Ira Kaplan and drummer/singer

Georgia Hubley formed Yo La Tengo in 1984. The new album marks the fourth

time Roger Moutenot served as producer for the band, as well as the third

time Yo La Tengo traveled to his Nashville studio to record.
