Rihanna Lets Fans Be Her Guide, Selects Summer Jam 'We Ride' As Next Single

Singer on first headlining tour through early August.

LOS ANGELES -- When it came time to choose the follow-up to her smash singles "S.O.S." and "Unfaithful," Rihanna turned not to management or record-label professionals for guidance, but to her computer.

"Out of all my songs [available for sale] on iTunes, that's the third most downloaded, behind 'S.O.S' and 'Unfaithful,' " the Barbados-born beauty said of A Girl Like Me's "We Ride." "It's having good feedback, so I'm gonna give [fans] what they want."

Fortunately, "We Ride" also happens to be one of Rihanna's favorites and, in her words, "a big summer song."

" 'We Ride' is about this guy saying over and over again, 'When we ride, we ride, we're gonna be together until the day that we die' -- promising all these things," Rihanna explained. "And then it turns out he broke all of his promises, which is sad -- but it's summer and I don't care if you wanna do that and be ugly and unfaithful, then I can just do my thing, chill with my girls and have fun.

"That's what summers are all about," she continued. "And every summer you remember a certain relationship and there's always a song to connect to that. So 'We Ride' is just one of those songs."

Rihanna's not sure when the song will go to radio, and it could be awhile before she has time to shoot the video -- she's not in any hurry to put "S.O.S." or "Unfaithful" aside, either (see [article id="1527788"]"Rihanna Hooking Up With Ne-Yo When She's Done Crying 'S.O.S.' "[/article]). Last week, the singer launched her first U.S. headlining tour and she'll be on the road at least through her August 8 date in Jackson, Mississippi. "We might add on a few dates, 'cause we wanna hit as many places as possible," she said.

Rihanna spent several weeks rehearsing for the tour, but she's keeping her set's details a surprise.

"It's a big deal to me, so I'm doing everything in my ability to make this tour the best," Rihanna said. "I just want to entertain people, because sometimes you go to shows and it's just choreography, song, choreography, song -- you got dancers behind you, it's the same old thing. I wanted to switch it up a little bit, so we added in a few different elements to make it special and different."

Field Mob opened the first four dates and newcomer Jeannie Ortega will handle duties for the rest of the trek. "I admire her so much," Rihanna said of Ortega. "She's a sweetheart and she is so grateful to be on tour with me and that's what I love. She's gonna kill it."

After the tour ends, Rihanna hopes to continue transitioning her success on the radio to movie theaters (see [article id="1512953"]"Rihanna Brings On Acting Career With New 'Bring It On' Flick"[/article]).

"I've had a few [acting offers], but nothing that's confirmed, nothing I can talk about," she said.
