Shaun Tan Wins Oscar For Animated Short 'The Lost Thing'

As Comics Beat pointed out this morning, the 2011 Academy Award recipient for Best Animated Short Film was none other than Shaun Tan, who created one of the most moving and original graphic novels/children's books of 2007, "The Arrival." Tan brought home an Oscar yesterday for the animated adaptation of his book "The Lost Thing," about a boy who discovers a strange creature on the beach while looking for bottle caps. The Oscar win for Tan might help the chances of "The Arrival" to make it to the silver screen as well.
