Evil children have been a staple in the horror genre forever. From "The Bad Seed" to "The Exorcist" to "Orphan," using children as the antagonists seems to heighten a film's creepy factor — because you can't help but think, "That could always be my kid."
The LA-based production company 22 Vision decided to use the horror trope of scary kids to create a fun Halloween photo shoot starring 5-year-old twins Baylie and Rylie Cregut, best known for sharing the role of "Hope" on the TV series "Raising Hope." The girls were transformed into characters from seven different popular horror movies, including "The Ring," "The Shining" and "Bride of Chucky."
Brian Pocrass, owner of 22 Vision and the executive producer for this #KidsOfHorror project, told MTV News how this photo shoot came to be. "One weekend day in June, my 4-year-old niece had a birthday princess party where everybody came in costume. One girl in particular came in with long dark hair and I joked to a friend that she kinda looked like Samara from 'The Ring.' My friend told me to stop because that movie scared him to no end and he [didn't] want to think about it."
After that spark of inspiration, the #KidsOfHorror project came alive. Pocrass mentioned, "The girls were fascinated with the whole transformation process — the costumes, hair and makeup. It was like the ultimate game of dress up for them... [they] were [even] actively trying to out-scare each other [during the shoot]!"
Check out the ~spooky~ photos below.
To begin, here's what Baylie and Rylie look like, sans horror makeup. Sweet and innocent, right?
Well, that's about to change. Here they are as the infamous twins from "The Shining."
According to Pocrass, this was one of Baylie's favorite characters from the shoot "because she loves to wear dresses."
Hide yo kids, hide yo wife and hide yo husband, because Baylie-as-Samara from "The Ring" is comin' for you.
Samara may look calm now, but just you wait. There's an evil entity lurking behind that smile.
Rylie makes a deal with the devil, dressing up as the possessed Regan from "The Exorcist."
Don't worry, it's only pea soup.
Baylie channels her inner Drew Barrymore from "Firestarter."
While Rylie finds the Carol Ann from "Poltergeist" in herself.
Pocrass told MTV News this character was Rylie's favorite "because she loved wearing the blonde wig."
The girls aren't afraid to don white wigs and evil, soul-less eyes, going as kids from "Village of the Damned."
And finally, Baylie and Rylie dress as Chucky and his gal Tiffany. They just want to play with you, is that so much to ask?
