'Growing Pains' Actor Alan Thicke Dead At 69

The beloved TV icon has passed away after suffering a heart attack

Legendary TV actor Alan Thicke has died at the age of 69, according to reports from TMZ and The Los Angeles Times.

The actor reportedly suffered a heart attack today (December 13) while playing hockey with his 19-year-old son, Carter. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Burbank, California, where he was pronounced dead.

Thicke is survived by his wife, Tanya, and his three sons, Robin, Brennan, and Carter.

Thicke is best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver, the good-natured dad on the beloved ’80s sitcom Growing Pains. He also had a successful career as a TV theme song composer, crafting the songs for shows like Wheel of Fortune, Growing Pains, The Facts of Life, and Diff’rent Strokes. He most recently appeared on the Netflix reboot Fuller House and the NBC drama This Is Us.

Robin Thicke took to Instagram early Wednesday to pay his respects to his father.
