Shailene Woodley Is Out Of Jail And Ready To Keep ‘Fighting’ For Clean Water

She 'appreciates the outpouring of support' after her arrest

Hours after being arrested for trespassing during a protest, Divergent star Shailene Woodley was released from North Dakota's Morton County Jail Monday evening (October 10). She was protesting the proposed Dakota Access Pipeline, which would transport oil to Illinois — and, in the process, damage nearby sacred Sioux burial grounds and potentially contaminate the Standing Rock Reservation's water supply.

"She appreciates the outpouring of support, not only for her, but more importantly, for the continued fight against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline,” Woodley's rep told People.

Hundreds of activists protested at Standing Rock that morning, but Woodley was "identified" and arrested when law enforcement surrounded her vehicle. She captured the whole experience in a Facebook Live video, below, which currently has over 3.5 million views.

It looks like Woodley's got plenty of Tris — Divergent's badass, save-the-day heroine — in her.
