Emo Lovers, Rejoice: Jimmy Eat World Are Back With An Angsty New Jam

Listen to 'Get Right' and feel all the feelings, just like you used to

After three years on the sidelines — and following recent “The Middle” endorsements from Taylor Swift and Frances Bean CobainJimmy Eat World are back with new music.

The emo-punk stalwarts have returned with “Get Right,” an angsty, guitar-driven single about trying to keep it together when all you want to do is escape. “I’m destination addicted/ I just gotta be someplace else,” frontman Jim Adkins muses on the slightly menacing chorus. The track’s accompanying lyric video splices together grainy footage from a scenic road trip, hammering in that whole “MUST GET OUT NOW!!!” sentiment.

Following the premiere of “Get Right” on BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show, Adkins revealed that it’s the first single from Jimmy Eat World’s upcoming ninth album, the follow-up to 2013’s Damage. According to Pitchfork, the as-yet-untitled LP will arrive on October 21. Until then, you can head to Jimmy Eat World's website to download "Get Right" for free.
