M.I.A. Makes Up With Diplo For Their First Song Together In Six Years

The rapper and producer are back together again on 'Bird Song'

They say time heals all wounds, and it certainly seems to have healed the rift between M.I.A. and her ex Diplo.

Years after their breakup, the pair appear together again on one version of M.I.A.'s new "Bird Song." Their last collaboration came out more than six years ago when Diplo produced two tracks on M.I.A.'s 2010 album, Maya.

A week ago, M.I.A. shared a version of "Bird Song" featuring production by Blaqstarr, though she'd hinted that a Diplo version of the song was on the way. She claimed that her label Interscope had blocked Diplo's take on the track, but now it seems they've agreed to let it see the light of day.

"Bird Song" seems like it could be a spiritual sequel to M.I.A.'s 2007 track "Bird Flu" off her album Kala, though her delivery is much more muted this time around.

Both versions of "Bird Song" will appear on M.I.A.'s forthcoming album A.I.M., which she says will be her last owing to ongoing label and visa issues.
