Ezra Miller’s Character In 'Fantastic Beasts' Has Finally Been Revealed

He's looking a little ‘gaunt’

Ezra Miller’s character in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a total enigma. In fact, when MTV News caught up with Miller at San Diego Comic-Con this past July, he claimed that he wasn’t even in the movie. (He was of course being facetious.)

Thanks to EW, we now have photographic proof that Miller is not only in Fantastic Beasts, he also has a scene with Colin Farrell’s powerful auror, Percival Graves. EW exclusively debuted the first photo of Miller’s cagey character, Credence, and dare we say, he’s looking rather gaunt.

Credence is the adopted child of Mary Lou Barebone (Samantha Morton), the leader of the New Salem Philanthropic Society, an extremist No-Maj group whose goals include exposing and killing wizards and witches. (Perhaps those “We Need a Second Salem” posters belong to her organization.) According to EW, Credence is “extremely shy” and pretty much defenseless against Mary Lou’s abuse — and to be entirely honest, given the fact that he’s adopted and we know nothing about his bloodline, there’s a possibility that he could be a wizard. After all, it’s been revealed that Credence plays a “big role” in J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world canon.

As for his relationship to Graves, for whatever reason the seasoned auror and Director of Magical Security has taken a “personal interest” in Credence — and the poor kid’s loneliness makes him extremely vulnerable to Graves’s manipulation. Does this mean Credence is a Good Guy? We’ll have to wait until the film’s release on November 18, 2016 to find out.
