Seth Rogen Lived Out Every Rap Fan’s Dream With This Epic Lip Sync

Comedian ditches the playback track for surprise performance with The Roots

Everyone’s done it: You love a song, you listen to it until every single word of the track is imprinted on your brain, and you take every single opportunity to do your best impression of the performer behind it when you pass a mirror or hear it blasting over the radio in your car. Seth Rogen basically saved up every single one of those moments and rolled them into the ultimate lip sync on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmmy Fallon Friday night (August 5), where he rocked his favorite Roots track with The Roots themselves.

This is a popular segment on Fallon’s show, but he was no match for Rogen — who stopped by to talk up Sausage Party, his new movie out August 12 — as the comedian succeeded in not only surprising the audience but the host with an impromptu battle change-up.

“For my first song, we are not going to use a playback track,” he exclaimed before proceeding. “We have one of the greatest bands in the world here on this stage. I’ve been a fan of The Roots since literally the day I was born, and they have agreed to help me out with a live playback of a song off their classic 1995 album, Do You Want More?” Rogen then proceeded to spit mimes while Black Thought spat rhymes, and his delivery was almost as good as the real thing.

Watch Rogen and Fallon’s lip sync battle above, and catch Sausage Party in theaters on August 12.
