The actress, who stole our hearts as awkward teen-turned-princess Mia Thermopolis, posted a sweet tribute to the movie that made her a star, including a GIF of Joe (Hector Elizondo) teaching rhythmically challenged Mia how to dance.
“It’s been 15 years (say it with me) SHUT UP!!!!!,” Hathaway began her post, referencing one of Mia’s most memorable lines from the film.
“To all the fans who have loved Mia, Louie, Lily, Joe, Michael and, of course, Queen Clarisse, thank you from the bottom of my heart!” she continued.
Hathaway then turned her attention to The Princess Diaries director Garry Marshall, who passed away last month at the age of 81.
“And to Garry Marshall, thank you for making me a princess. I love you always my beloved friend and teacher, and I miss you every day xx.”
Soooo... the only appropriate way to celebrate the movie's 15th birthday (and Marshall's legacy) is to watch it while eating pizza topped with M&M's, right? Right. Let's all get to it.
