'Hills' 411: Lauren Conrad Reveals What 'Really' Happened At Speidi's Nuptials

Of course there was a bit of behind-the-scenes drama

Lauren Conrad's closing Hills moment, at Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's glitzy wedding, may have seemed like it was a pleasant and nondramatic affair. But behind the scenes, the lifestyle maven recalls an entirely different version of what transpired before Speidi said "I do" in that Hollywood church.

"The power went out, the generator went out and I said, ‘I need to leave!'" the 30-year-old revealed to Us Weekly about the 2009 event, while adding that she only had a limited amount of time to film because she needed to attend an event with her then-beau Kyle Howard. "And [producers] wouldn't let me leave! They literally locked me in the basement with two security guards and wouldn't let me leave! And I was like, ‘You can't keep me here!' I was throwing a fit!"

While producers deny that she was actually confined, the nuptials (relive them above) eventually occurred two hours after this aforementioned incident. And while Lauren's exit is unforgettable to anyone who followed her MTV journey -- she skedaddled in her Jackie O sunglasses and went off into her ride solo -- she reflects on why she decided to depart in that fashion.

"At that point, this wasn't really my life anymore, and I left out the [church's] side door, so that's why in the final scene, I'm not leaving with everyone else — I'm taking a side exit out because I had a car waiting, and I needed to leave!" the SoCal native explains.
