'Glee' Star Cory Monteith Dead at 31

Film and television star Cory Monteith, who rose to fame as the hunky but soulful football player turned singer Finn Hudson on the hit TV series "Glee," was found dead yesterday in a Vancouver hotel room according to CNN.

He was 31.

According to the report, staff members at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel discovered Monteith's body after the actor failed to show up for his scheduled checkout time. While the cause of death is still unknown at this time, Vancouver police did announce that they have ruled out foul play.

"We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate," Monteith's publicist, Melissa Kates, told USA Today. "We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss."

While Monteith is best known for his role on "Glee," which also led to national music tours and several compilation albums featuring his singing, the star also had a number of feature films on his resume," including 2006's "Final Destination 3" and 2011's "Monte Carlo." He recently completed work on two independent films, "McCanick" and "All the Wrong Reasons," both of which are still in post-production.

"I have no words! My heart is broken," co-star Dot-Marie Jones tweeted. "Cory was not only a hell of a friend, he was one amazing man that I will hold close to my heart forever. I am blessed to have worked with him and love him so much! My heart is with his family and our whole Glee family! I love you all!"

Monteith had been open about his lifelong struggles with addiction, which included several stints in rehab beginning at the age of 19. His most recent stay in a drug addiction treatment facility ended just this past April.

"I had several interactions with him yesterday where he said that he was doing amazing," director Adam Shankman said. "He even said 'I am feeling fantastic.' I'm like everybody else, really devastated and confused by what happened."

Details of a memorial service for Monteith have yet to be announced.
