Disney (and specifically, "Mary Poppins") lovers, hold onto your umbrellas — the first look at "Saving Mr. Banks" is here.
"Saving Mr. Banks," starring Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers (the whimsical wordsmith behind "Mary Poppins") premiered its first theatrical trailer today on Huffington Post, and it is chock full of Disney drama.
The movie details Travers' journey from London to the palm tree-lined lanes of Hollywood to turn her novel about a magical nanny into a big screen epic. Along the way, Travers recalls some pretty upsetting moments from her childhood in Australia, specifically concerning her father, Mr. Banks (we see you, title!) , the inspiration behind Mary’s employer in the book.
The film also stars Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti and Ruth Wilson. Any chance we can get a little cameo from Julie Andrews, the original Mary from the 1964 classic? C’mon, you’re all thinking it!
The film is slated for a December 13, 2013 release.
