Zach Braff Wants Your Money

You knew once "Veronica Mars" launched a successful Kickstarter for an upcoming movie (to the tune of $5.7 million) that Pandora's Box was burst wide open, so to speak, and other B/C-list stars would emerge from the woodwork asking the public to fund their dubious pet projects using money earned at real jobs.

We just didn't know it would be Zach Braff and "Garden State 2: Back in the Saddle" (working title).

Last month, we asked Zach in an interview for his role as a talking monkey in "Oz the Great and Powerful" if he had any plans to write and direct again. His response:

"Yes, I'm working on a new project that I've written with my brother, and I'm hoping to direct this year. It's in development, so I can't talk about it quite yet...I can't go into details. Coming soon to a press release near you!"

Um, we guess this is the press release he means. Okay.

To be fair, according to the actual press release sent out to promote this little "indie" production, Braff's screenplay, co-written with his brother Adam, "Wish I Was Here" is actually an original screenplay, not a "Garden State" sequel. However, the plot sounds like "Garden State" a decade later: Aidan Bloom, played by Braff, is "a struggling actor, father and husband, who at 35 is still trying to find his identity; a purpose for his life."

Sounds....familiar. Large? Is that you?

The project has already raised $250,000 of its pledged goal of $2 million, and with a whole month left, it sure looks promising for Mr. Braff to update us all on what Andrew Largeman Aidan Bloom is doing these days over the course of two Shins-ified hours of our regretful lives. So buckle up, everyone.
