'The Way, Way Back' Trailer Takes Us All Back

The last time we saw such an adorably dysfunctional family ensemble on-screen everyone suddenly became an indie movie expert-slash-lover a la "Little Miss Sunshine." With honorable mention to the intriguing "Stuck In Love," this new trailer for "The Way, Way Back" (which conveniently also features Steve Carell in a stolid role) threatens to take possession of that feel-good free-for-all title.

Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, who last co-wrote the splashy "The Descendants" script, re-teamed to pen, direct and star in this Sundance-approved movie about a teen boy being guided past his awkward adolescence by a quirky water park group.

Liam James, Toni Collette, Sam Rockwell, Amanda Peet, AnnaSophia Robb, Rob Corddry, Maya Rudolph, Allison Janney and Zoe Levin — yes, all of them — star in the film, which Jim Rash told Entertainment Weekly was a tribute to the love he and Nat Faxon had for '80s-style teen cinema.

"Nat and I grew up on John Hughes and 'Meatballs," he said, "Hughes knew how to explore teen problems without talking down to it. So we really, if anything, wanted to create a nostalgic feeling of a movie that hopefully crosses all those lines for everybody."

Teen boys everywhere will be taking notes about how to do things like innocently linger on a cute booty view and play it cool when the drunken, half-naked neighbor lady starts shakin' her tailfeather at you right in front of her husband.

"The Way, Way Back" hits theaters on July 5.
