'Princess Bride' Shirt Causes Airplane Panic

"Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father, prepare to die."

Mandy Patinkin's oh-so-memorable, oft-repeated line from "The Princess Bride" is directed solely at Christopher Guest's Count Tyrone Rugen, but a few cinematically challenged passengers on a recent Qantas flight to New Zealand can't tell a Patinkin from a Taliban.

According to Stuff, Kiwi/film buff Wynand Mullins started a minor kerfuffle on his flight to Aukland when he wore a t-shirt with the quote on it, the "Prepare to die" part not sitting well with some in coach who hadn't seen Rob Reiner's 25-year-old cult classic.

"The flight attendant said to me: ‘Are you able to remove it because some of the passengers are quite intimidated by it,'" Mullins said. "I thought it was all a bit silly. The person next to me was laughing, because they knew the movie."

Although the attendant went to look for a new shirt, she never returned and the plane went merrily unexploded to its destination, no harm done.

Mullins isn't the only one who's had a famous "Princess Bride" quote interfere with their travel plans. In our interview with the film's lead, Cary Elwes, he told us that "As you wish" has become something he has to declare before boarding a plane.

"Sometimes I won’t even get past TSA agents at the airport who won’t let me through without saying it," Elwes said. "'I wanna make the flight, whatever you want.'"
