Charlize Theron Nudges into Comedy with 'Murder Mystery'

Charlize Theron has done it all ... almost. Sci-fi? See "Prometheus." Serial killer drama? Check out her Oscar fodder "Monster." Action blast? Yep, "Snow White and the Huntsman." You get the gist.

The one area she's not really stretched her oh-so-long legs in yet is the comedy scene.

Sure, she had that guest role in "Arrested Development," and she led up last year's dark comedy hit "Young Adult," but the notoriously foul-mouthed thesp hasn't gotten to truly show off her funny bone just yet. And we've seen how funny she can be, so now's as good a time as any.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lady Theron is in talks to star in a comedic whodunnit called "Murder Mystery," a movie about a honeymooning couple fingered in a murder case. The story is supposedly "an affectionate deconstruction of an Agatha Christie-style thriller."

Sounds like some kind of cross between "Date Night" and "Clue."

The script for "Murder Mystery" was written by "Zodiac" screenwriter James Vanderbilt, and it will be directed by John Madden ("The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel"). Theron's company Denver and Delilah Productions will produce.

We can't wait to see what Theron and her nimble acting chops can do with a few jokes.
