Gwen Stefani has returned with the second single from her new album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, and it’s a complete 180 from the teary ballad we heard a few months ago.
While “Used to Love You” saw the No Doubt singer mourning the end of her marriage, “Make Me Like You” cranks the tempo up and threads a funky bass line between Gwen’s conflicted lyrics.
“I really like you/ But I’m so scared,” she sings. “Why’d you have to go and make me like you?/ This is a feeling I’m not used to."
Stefani will release This Is What the Truth Feels Like on March 18. She’ll also make history with the first-ever live music video for “Make Me Like You,” which she’ll record and release during the Grammys on Monday (February 15).
