J-Pop Star Kyary Pamyu Pamyu Debuts in New York City - Photos

J-pop princess Kyary Pamyu Pamyu brought Harajuku to Times Square Sunday night, where she played a sold-out show at the Best Buy Theater on her first world tour. The heavily costumed crowd turned out in an array of looks from Kyary's videos, and delighted in chanting the correct Japanese pronunciation of the star's name. The set opened, to deafening screams, with a montage of Kyary's videos, followed by the entrance of Kyary and four dancers. She wore the red and white dress from the "Furisodeshon" video, although, save for a few patterned banners and a video backdrop, there were no stage props or set at all. It's little surprising given her elaborate video sets, but maybe they'll be in the budget for her second world tour. In between songs like "PonPonPon" and "Tsukematsukeru," Kyary made polite comments to the audience via an invisible translator. It only served only to increase her enigmatic allure. Check out pics of the show (and the fans) below.
